Ensuring Environment Friendly Clay Collection and Sustainable Land Use in Catchment areas of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Ltd.
Overall objective is to ensure clay collection in LHBL Surma plant without negative impact in nature, environment and local community.
•To examine the clay collection process for production of clinker;
•To establish transparency among concerns organization, persons and reduce misunderstanding among civil activist and disseminate their recommendations to establish harmonies between community and LHBL;
•To recommend, through participatory system, for future mutual understanding among all concerns;
•To transform fallow land under production as result of clay soil collection;
•To categorizing the clay suppliers (contractors) during the excavation stage of interventions.
Key Interventions:
• Held 100 individual consultations with stakeholders.
• Organized community program on maximizing land use.
• Conducted training on pond fisheries for 33 participants.
• Held two trainings on field crops, vegetables (67 participants).
• Distributed vegetable seeds to 135 farmers.
