ABOUT IDEA

Institute of Development Affairs (IDEA) is a non-government development organization (NGO) established in 1993 by a group of like-minded development professional and activist with an aim to promoting human, socio-economic and cultural development of the underprivileged people living in rural Bangladesh. To achieve the aim, IDEA organizes the people who are living below poverty line to improve their livelihoods.

IDEA is involved in promoting human rights, dignity, and gender equity through poor people’s socioeconomic, political and human capacity building. IDEA intends to bring about changes in policies to reduction of poverty and increase social progress through its advocacy campaign. IDEA’s core competency is the delivery of health, WatSan, education, micro-enterprise development, gender, climate change adaptation, livelihoods enhancement, agro-forestry development, bio-diversity conservation etc. IDEA has developed groups of local service provider to deliver these services and organized local groups to sustainably use these services.

Development interventions of IDEA are extended to 28 Upazilas in 4 districts of Sylhet division and has been implementing projects through its partners in Brahmanbaria, Netrokona and Kishoregonj district.
