Title
Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) for Tea Garden Workers.

Objective

  • To increase sustainable access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene for tea garden workers fulfilling their rights and needs
  • To determine appropriate, effective and sustainable approaches and WaSH technologies to support the tea garden workers and scaling up the lessons
  • To increase institutional understanding and capacity of local service providers
  • To increase responsiveness and accountable of the duty bearers to support the tea garden workers upon recognition of their WaSH right
  • To capitalize critical knowledge on Tea Garden workers related to WaSH and share those in Local, regional as well as national level through advocacy campaign/ events
  • To recognize WaSH rights of the excluded group by the policy maker

Result
All tea garden have active WaSH committees, Individual or shared sanitary latrins for 80% of the population in the program area, Access to safe water supply for drinking and cooking purposes in the most needy Upazillas in the program area, Safe water and sanitary latrines for boys and girls for all schools in the program area.

Main Activities
Form a WaSH committee in each of the tea garden, Train the committee members on WaSH, Set up sanitation centers through local entrepreneurs, conduct assessment to determine sanitary services in all educational institutions in each of the 2 Upazilas, Repair, upgrade, or construct separate sanitary latrines with adequate water supply for boys and girls in all schools.

School Renovation Project

Objective: Overall goal of the project is to Increase and improve access to, and quality of learning in Naliuri Government  Primary School at Sylhet by 30 September 2022. The project is designed to contribute SDG 4 and 6.

Main Activities:

  • Conduct a Coordination meeting with Upazila Administration, UEO, Teacher and School Management Committee at school for the smooth operation and management of the facility renovation
  • Upgrading physical facilities; Renovation of 3 classroom’s wall, ceiling, floor, 4 doors, 6 windows, 30 benches, 5 tables and tin in tin shade building by September 2022
  • Coloring inside and outside of the building’s wall
  • Electric wiring and fittings in the building connecting extension line from the new one stored building which will be done in wash facility
  • Gardening & Tree plantation within the school boundary
  • A awareness Meeting on Safeguarding issues with Teacher, SMC and labor

  • Provided 8 trained PPE teachers to 8 Government primary schools
  • Need-based 6 renovation work done for PPE class and Primary school
  • Provided pedagogic materials to 3234 learners
